  • thanks, jan. lots to think about…even more to act on…the only time we have is now.

  • Good article… I wonder though how many that were left had the money to leave. I wonder if some chose to ignore the warnings much like we do everyday. Poverty is an interesting thing to study.
I dont know if you noticed when they showed the people getting on the buses the healthy strong were not looking out for the elderly and weak it was everyman for themselves… anyway.. I have a theory about some of this and its sad the we will hear for years to come that its because they were black and poor, because our government failed them. I think you will see some that will be given the oportunity for jobs to help rebuild and they will refuse.. “society owes me” I know now is not the time or the place to debate this. The fact is, there are people hurting and we as Christians have work to do.
    Bless you Jan.

  • I agree that there obviously are some (possibly many) that could leave but did not. Like you, I also try very hard not to get into the blaming game. I do not at all accept that anybody slowed down getting aid in because of apathy. I believe that there are many factors that must be considered. I prefer the military method…the AAR (After Actions Review). At some point when the mission is complete, sit down look at what was done good, what was not done good, where breakdowns occured and improve the system. I do not believe our government failed. We all have a duty to respond when our neighbor is in distress. God bless you all for your compassionate and giving hearts
