It's Been a Sad Week: "Sandy", Sep 1993-June 2006

sandra_womansandy-2001Last week we were left with little choice but to say goodbye to our loving puppy (half beagle and half golden retriever) of almost 13 years, Sandy. As Sandy grew older she developed a neurological disorder, possibly a tumor in her brain that caused much bizarre behavior, yet she was as loving and caring as anyone could want. Sandy was born in Alabama, September of 1993.

 Sandy "Sandra Woman" Puterbaugh 2001----->>

I'll never forget that rainy July morning in 1994 when our family answered a newspaper add in the Anniston Times. Sandy looked like a small greyhound (she was so skinny), was on a dog run in a backyard with no shelter and only an empty blue chewed up dog bowl for a toy. We immediately fell in love with her eagerness to please and happiness to see us. Over the  years Sandy (also known as Sandra Woman because she was often so prim and proper) became a permanent part of our family, sharing the foot of our bed every night, always eager for affection and loving to the core.She was great not only with our children as they grew from toddlers to adults, but also with all the little children that Kelly baby sits who like to play "horsey" and inspect her nose and ears and pull on her tail. Sandy lived a good life moving with us from Alabama to Colorado and then to her final home here in Florida. She was and is a part of our family.

She was the LifePoint Worship Band's unofficial mascot, loving to be in the studio every week for practice and throughout our recording sessions. Sandy loved people and people loved her!

Sandy-jes-9-june-2006sandy2-9-June-2006sandy-9-June-2006The last few years have been slowly tougher and tougher for Sandy. It got to the point that she would look at us with these sad "help me" eyes. Friday, June 9th, we laid her to rest at our home, thankful for the many blessings she shared with us.

God uses all aspects of His Creation to minister to people.  I'm glad He sent a 4-legged minister your way.

Peace...

We're very sad to hear about Sandy. She was part of our family too.  I (Greg) remember her stealing food off of my amp in the early days...and of course her favorite place to lie was on my effects pedals. Practises will not be the same without our band mascot. We will miss her very much. Our prayers are with you guys!!

This truly breaks my heart. I loved her so very deeply. Every now and then, I come across a creature whose very spirit touches me so much. She was one of those creatures. She is a beautiful soul and gave this world so much love. She was so very generous. I remember that one of my favorite parts of going to your house was loving on her. She was always there to sit at my feet when I was down and out. To let me know that she felt that I was sad and was there for me. And I never even lived with her. I can't even begin to imagine the emptiness her passing has left on your family. Just remember that although we all can't see her anymore, she is there. Always will be. God Bless Sandy. Thank you Lord for sharing her with us all.
